Shemonaella was named by Sohn (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 670].

It was assigned to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Paraparchitidae by Crasquin and Forel (2010), Abushik (2015) and Chitnarin and Ketwetsuriya (2021).
