Taxonomy
Pseudorogueus was named by Fraaye (1995). Its type is Pseudorogueus rangiferus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Raninoides by Schweitzer et al. (2010).

It was assigned to Raninidae by Fraaye (1995); and to Raninoidinae by van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
