Taxonomy
Bairdia whortani was named by Kellett (1935). Its type specimen is USNM 90097 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 3 miles west of Sedan, which is in a Gzhelian marine shale in the Kanwaka Formation of Kansas.
