R. Hirayama et al. 2013Small-bodied turtle with estimated carapace length of 10 cm. Differs from all other known turtles in the following unique combination of carapace characters: retains well-developed peripherals with a prominent pit in visceral surface for receipt of distal end of rib; scute sulci absent; and external surface bears extremely coarse and deep vermiculate sculpture.
