Taxonomy
Phacoides (Lucinisca) costaricensis was named by Olsson (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Middle Creek [Rio Banano Fm], which is in a Piacenzian marine siliciclastic in the Rio Banano Formation of Costa Rica.
It was recombined as Lucinisca costaricensis by Hendy et al. (2008).
