Taxonomy
Eristenosia circularis was named by Cooper (1983). Its type specimen is USNM 30902b, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tonnerre, Yonne, which is in a Kimmeridgian marine horizon in France. It is the type species of Eristenosia.
