Pustularia (Pustularia) caribaea was named by Schilder (1939). Its type specimen is NMB No. H 11260, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pustularia caribaea by Jung (1971); it was recombined as Propustularia caribaea by Schilder and Schilder (1971), Fehse (2010), Landau and Groves (2011).
