Triton tranquebaricum was named by Lamarck (1816). It is extant.

It was corrected as Triton tranquebaricus by Reeve (1844); it was recombined as Cymatium (Linatella) tranquebaricum by Kilias (1973); it was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) tranquebaricum by Nordsieck and Garcia-Talavera (1979); it was recombined as Cymatium (Monoplex) tranquebaricum by Beu (1985); it was recombined as Monoplex tranquebaricus by Beu (2010).
