Trucheosaurus major
Taxonomy
Bothriceps major was named by Woodward (1909). Its type specimen is MMF 12697a, AMF 50977, BMNH R3728, a partial skeleton (Skull table and partial postcranium ), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Commonwealth Oil Corporation oil shale mine, Airly, which is in a Wuchiapingian deltaic shale in the Glen Davis Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Trucheosaurus.
It was recombined as Trucheosaurus major by Watson (1956), Marsicano and Warren (1998), Schoch and Milner (2000), Poropat et al. (2023).
