Nemacanthus elegans
Taxonomy
Cosmacanthus elegans was named by Evans (1904). Its type specimen is UCMP M9087, an osteoderm (fin spine), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Paris Canyon, Bear Lake County, which is in a Smithian marine horizon in the Thaynes Formation of Idaho.
It was recombined as Nemacanthus elegans by Mutter and Rieber (2005).
