Spirigera marmorea was named by Bittner (1890).

It was recombined as Spirigera (Didymospira) marmorea by Salomon (1895); it was recombined as Spirigera (Pexidella) marmorea by De Toni (1913); it was recombined as Pexidella marmorea by Iordan (1993).
