Verrustephanoporites simplex was named by Leidelmeyer (1966) [Botanical affinity: Ulmaceae. Type Phyllostylon rhamnoides (J. Poiss) (Quattrocchio and Volkheimer, 1988)]. It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Verrustephanoporites.
