Taxonomy
Psephodus salopiensis was named by Woodward (1889). Its type specimen is BMNH 42189 (upper dental plate) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oreton, Shropshire (BMNH), which is in a Mississippian marine limestone in the United Kingdom.
