Taxonomy
Miocaperea pulchra was named by Bisconti (2012). Its type specimen is SMNS 46978, a partial skull (Skull subdivided into two parts: one including the rostrum and the other including the neurocranium. The tympanic bullae are missing.), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aguada de Lomas, which is in a Tortonian foreshore siltstone in the Pisco Formation of Peru. It is the type species of Miocaperea.
