Neomegalodon triqueter
Taxonomy
Cardium triquetrum was named by Wulfen (1793). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Oswald adit, Bad Bleiberg, which is in a Julian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal packstone in the Wetterstein Formation of Austria. It is the type species of Neomegalodon.
It was recombined as Megalodus triqueter by von Wöhrmann (1889), Frech (1912), Zapfe (1972); it was recombined as Megalodon (Neomegalodon) triqueter by Cox et al. (1969); it was recombined as Neomegalodon triqueter by Yao et al. (2007).
