Taxonomy
Bairdemys hartsteini was named by Gaffney and Wood (2002). Its type specimen is AMNH 27722, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH PR 88-3, which is in a Burdigalian carbonate limestone in the Cibao Formation of Puerto Rico.
