Cyamodus muensteri
Taxonomy
Placodus muensteri was named by Agassiz (1834). Its type specimen is BSP AS VII 1210, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bindlacher Berg, which is in an Illyrian marine horizon in the Meissner Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Cyamodus.
It was synonymized subjectively with Cyamodus rostratus by Kuhn (1969), Kuhn (1971); it was recombined as Cyamodus muensteri by Rieppel (2001).
