Taxonomy
Piceoerpeton naylori was named by Gardner (2012). Its type specimen is UALVP 14918, a set of vertebrae (atlantal centrum), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bug Creek Anthills, which is in a Maastrichtian coarse channel fill sandstone in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana.
