Taxonomy
Hinganotrypa was named by Romantchuk and Kiseleva (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-l P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 571,905]. Its type is Hinganotrypa conspecta.

It was assigned to Fenestellidae by Romantchuk and Kiseleva (1968); and to Fenestrata by Sepkoski (2002).
