Taxonomy
Sunrisites sunrisense was named by Guex (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Level Z-110, Reno Draw section 1, which is in an Angulata marine limestone in the Sunrise Formation of Nevada. It is the type species of Sunrisites.
It was recombined as Franziceras sunrisense by Howarth (2013).
