Cycloperiella was named by Canu and Bassler (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R].

It was assigned to Petraliidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stomachetosellidae by Bock (2006).
