Taxonomy
Haplopoma was named by Levinsen (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Haplopomidae.

It was assigned to Hippothoidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Haplopomidae by Gordon (2012).
