Taxonomy
Myriacanthus bollensis was named by Fraas (1910). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Holzmaden, epsilon II-3 (SMNS collection), which is in a Tenuicostatum marine shale in the Posidonienschiefer Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Metopacanthus bollensis by Duffin (1983).
