Taxonomy

Herentia was named by Gray (1848) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Escharina by Bock (2006).

It was assigned to Schizoporellidae by Pouyet (2000); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Escharinidae by Berning et al. (2008).
