Hippaliosina was named by Canu (1919) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Hippaliosinidae.
It was assigned to Cheiloporinidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hippaliosinidae by Gordon (2012).
