Taxonomy
Lutzomyia (Micropygomyia) filipalpis was named by Peñalver and Grimaldi (2006). Its type specimen is AMNH DR-8-167, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (AMNH coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
It was recombined as Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) filipalpis by Andrade Filho et al. (2009).
