Taxonomy
Otionella was named by Canu and Bassler (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Membraniporidae by Canu and Bassler (1935), Stach (1936), Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Otionellidae by Bock (2006).
