Taxonomy
Lanceopora was named by d'Orbigny (1851) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio R Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Lanceoporidae.

It was assigned to Parmulariidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lanceoporidae by Gordon (2012).
