Taxonomy
Phylactella was named by Hincks (1880) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1260]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Phylactellidae.

It was assigned to Phylactellidae by Canu and Bassler (1935), Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); to Teuchoporidae by Bock (2006); and to Smittinidae by Gordon (2012).
