Taxonomy
Poricellaria was named by d'Orbigny (1854) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Poricellariidae.

It was assigned to Calpensiidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Poricellariidae by Bock (2006), Gordon (2012), Di Martino and Taylor (2014).
