Taxonomy
Ranina georgiana was named by Rathbun (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Stephens Bluff, Tombigbee River, which is in an Oligocene marine limestone in the Glendon Formation of Alabama.
It was recombined as Lophoranina georgiana by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Karasawa et al. (2014), Luque et al. (2017).
