Taxonomy
Watersipora was named by Neviana (1896) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Watersiporidae.

It was assigned to Cheiloporinidae by Bassler (1953), Pouyet (2000); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Watersiporidae by Berning (2006), Gordon (2012).
