Cyatheacidites was named by Potonié (1956). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Cyatheales by Potonié (1956); to Lophosoriaceae by Santamarina et al. (2020); and to Dicksoniaceae by Perez Loinaze et al. (2023).
