Verrucosisporites was named by Potonie and Kremp (1954). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Filicopsida by Potonié and Kremp (1954); to Pteridophyta by Potonié and Kremp (1954); and to Polypodiopsida by Perez Loinaze et al. (2023).
