Senipites patagonica was named by Barreda (1997) [Botanical affinity: Symplocaceae (Symplocos)]. Its type specimen is CIRGEO Palin 859, coordinates 40.1/105.5, a seed repro (Tricolporate pollen), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

V. Barreda and S. Palamarczuk 2000Pollen grain free, isopolar, tricolporate, oblate to suboblate. Amb subtriangular to subcircular, sides convex, outline oval in equatorial view. Colpi relatively short, extending for about 1/2 to 2/3 length of equatorial radius. Ora vestibulate, lalongate, 2.8-3.4 µm high by 5-6.5 µm wide, with thickened margins. Vestibula subtriangular, 5.7-7.5 µm wide, 2-4 µm deep in polar view. Exine stratified, 1-1.5 µm. Sexine and nexine of approximately equal thickness, except around ora where the nexine is slightly thicker. Columellae small, frequently indistinct. Sexine ornamentation variable from densely microgranulate to microrugulate or even irregularly microreticulate-microperforate.
