Taxonomy
Newsomites karinae was named by Becker and Wang (1992). Its type specimen is NIGP 115713, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Damaoqi, sample H90, which is in a Wenlock/Ludlow carbonate limestone in the Bateaobao Formation of China.
