Trachyceras meeki was named by Mojsisovics (1882).

It was recombined as Trachyceras (Anolcites) meeki by Smith (1904), Hyatt and Smith (1905); it was recombined as Trachyceras (Protrachyceras) meeki by Smith (1914); it was recombined as Eoprotrachyceras meeki by Tozer (1980).
