Opsiconidion was named by Ludvigsen (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-l D Fras Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Biernatinae by Holmer (1989); to Atrypida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Biernatidae by Williams et al. (2000), Cocks (2019).
