Taxonomy
Trematis was named by Sharpe (1848) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde O Ashg-u Sepkoski's reference number: 32,981]. It is not extant. Its type is Orbicula terminalis.

It was assigned to Trematidae by Wright (1963), Holmer (1989), Williams et al. (2000), Popov (2000); and to Acrotretida by Sepkoski (2002).
