Taxonomy
Plectoconcha newbyi was named by Sandy and Stanley (1993). Its type specimen is UMIP 20410 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dunlap Canyon, Pilot Mountains (locality DC), which is in a Lacian reef, buildup or bioherm framestone/wackestone in the Luning Formation of Nevada.
