Laternula alisoensis
Taxonomy
Siliqua alisoensis was named by Packard (1922). Its type specimen is UCMP 12293 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2169, Santa Ana Mountains, which is in a Campanian marine horizon in the Williams Formation of California.
It was recombined as Laternula alisoensis by Elder and Saul (1993).

E. L. Packard 1922 | Shell rather short, wide, slightly inequilateral; anterior and posterior extremities evenly rounded and approximately of the same shape. Beaks small, situated slightly posterior to the middle line of the shell. Exterior of the shell is poorly preserved, so that the sculpture is unknown. A distinct internal ray extends from the beak to the junction of the pallial sinus and the posterior adductor scar. Pallial sinus deep, extending anteriorly about one -third the length of the shell. Length of type, 88 mm. ; height, 51 mm.; convexity, 8 mm. |
