Taxonomy
Protogryllus (Protogryllus) lakshmi was named by Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2012). Its type specimen is MCZ Tasch coll 3046, a forewing (female forewing), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Kota Formation outcrop K-2, which is in a Toarcian terrestrial mudstone in the Kota Formation of India.
