Taxonomy
Lycideopsidae was named by Broom (1931). It is not extant. Its type is Lycideops.

It was corrected as Lycideopidae by Sigurdsen et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Therocephalia by Haughton and Brink (1954); to Therocephalia by Kuhn (1946), Carroll (1988); and to Baurioidea by Sigurdsen et al. (2012).
