Knightella shumardiana
Taxonomy
Murchisonia shumardiana was named by Winchell (1863). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prospect Hill, bluff above river south of Burlington, which is in a Famennian marine sandstone in the English River Formation of Iowa.
It was recombined as Loxonema shumardana by Weller (1900); it was recombined as Holopea shumardana by Girty (1915); it was recombined as Holopea shumardiana by Yochelson and Saunders (1967); it was recombined as Knightella shumardiana by Wagner (2023).
