Taxonomy
Mazonia was named by Meek and Worthen (1868). It is the type genus of Mazonidae.

It was reranked as Eoscorpius (Mazonia) by Woodward (1907).

It was assigned to Eoscorpius by Woodward (1907); and to Mazoniidae by Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Kjellesvig-Waering (1986) and Dunlop et al. (2013).
