Ianthinopsis pinguis
Taxonomy
Macrocheilus pinguis was named by Winchell (1863). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prospect Hill, bluff above river south of Burlington, which is in a Famennian marine sandstone in the English River Formation of Iowa.
It was recombined as Sphaerodoma pinguis by Keyes (1889), Keyes (1894), Weller (1900), Weller (1905) and Girty (1915); it was recombined as Ianthinopsis pinguis by Yochelson and Saunders (1967).
