Taxonomy
Eoscorpius sparthensis was named by Baldwin and Sutcliffe (1904). Its type specimen is MM L6271 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Sparth Bottoms, Rochdale (MM coll), which is in a Westphalian A delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Anthracoscorpio sparthensis by Pocock (1911).
