Taxonomy
Ctenalosia was named by Cooper and Stehli (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Ctenalosia fixata.

It was assigned to Ctenalosiinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
