Penaeus liasicus was named by Oppel (1862). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schambelen near Mülligen, which is in a Liasicus marine limestone in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Antrimpos liasicus by Van Straelen (1925), Schweitzer et al. (2010).
