Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
L. G. de Koninck 1863 | This species is globular in form, and as high as wide. When young, its surface is covered with small, transverse, imbricated ribs, produced by the successive growth of the shell, as is easily observable in the specimen represented by fig. 2 a, of which a portion of the last coil of the spire and the callus of the aperture have been taken off. The ribs, which on the last whorl are (in the adults) transformed into large, but slightly marked wrinkles, form an open angle with the dorsal keel, which projects very slightly, and is but 1 millimeter in breadth. The several whorls completely overlap each other; the umbilicus is nearly obsolete ; the lip (peristome) is tolerably thick near the umbilicus, and slightly reflected. The buccal callosity is very much extended, and covers over nearly the last whorl of the shell. The test is thick, and the dorsal slit narrow and deep. |
